.... to East Wichita Rotary Club!

Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.

As the East Wichita Rotary Club, this is what WE do:

· Our Club provides strong leadership and financial support for the Boys and Girls Club of South Central Kansas.  Members have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars for operations and capital campaigns.  Many of our members have served on the Club’s board of directors.  Others have been mentors and assisted students with academic work.

 · Several $1,000 college scholarships are awarded annually to area students.  After the initial scholarship, students receive $1,000 for three ensuing years, provided they maintain satisfactory grades.  Scholarship recipients frequently attend our Club’s meetings to tell us about their educational pursuits.

· Each Thanksgiving, members donate and deliver more than 50 complete turkey dinners for needy families.

· Many local organizations have benefited from our Club’s volunteer efforts and monetary support.  Some of these groups are:

              Communities in Schools

              Habitat for Humanity

              Kansas Humane Society

              Medical Services Bureau

              Wichita Children’s Home

              Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas (YEK)

              Youthville (now Emberhope)
