City of Wichita

Lindsay Benacka is the Director of Arts and Cultural Services for the City of Wichita where she oversees a dynamic roster of programs, facilities, and projects and collaborates with many public and private partners. She re-joined the City of Wichita in December 2021, having previously served as the Artistic Director at CityArts.

Prior to returning to Wichita, Lindsay served in a comparative role for the City of Yuma, Arizona where she was the Director of the Yuma Art Center and served as a registered lobbyist with the State of Arizona. Notably, she is a recipient of the Governor's Art Award for Outstanding Arts Organization and Arts Administrator, the Heart of Yuma Award for Outstanding Community Leader, and was a finalist for the prestigious Gabe Zimmerman Public Service Award for Emerging Leader and Community Builder.

Lindsay has spent her entire career as a public servant, beginning as a Chicago Public School art educator before joining the Peace Corps where she served as a Youth Development Advisor in rural Cambodia. Additionally, she is an adjunct art faculty member at Arizona Western College, and a multidisciplinary artist, who has dabbled in every art form, but claims to be a master of none. She is a Chicago native and holds degrees from Columbia College Chicago and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Sold by the mission of “Service Above Self” she is no stranger to Rotary and is a current member of the Downtown Wichita Club and formerly the Yuma Rotary Club.
