Juneteenth and CORE

Danielle Johnson is the Assistant Director for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Wichita State University where she invites a shared learning experience around diversity and inclusion for students, faculty, staff and the greater Wichita community. Danielle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from WSU. She is currently pursuing her master's in Public Administration at WSU's Hugo Wall School of Public Affairs. Danielle’s role provides programs and training that enrich both the WSU and Wichita communities through diverse academic, social and cultural experiences. Danielle advises five student groups on Wichita State University’s campus; Hispanic American Leadership Organization, Delta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Black Academic Honors Society, Black Student Union, and ODI LGBTQ+ Ambassadors. Outside of WSU, Danielle serves and volunteers for several boards and organizations in both leadership capacity and as a general member. She serves at the following organizations; Community Operations Recovery Empowerment Inc (CORE), Juneteenth ICT, Books & Breakfast, Wichita Urban Professionals, W/ A Community of Young Professionals, Wichita Parks Foundation, Health Core Clinic, Kansas Hispanic Education Development Foundation Education Committee, CityArts Advisory Committee, Wichita Branch of the NAACP, Sedgwick County Democratic Party, Sedgwick County Young Dems, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, Bringing It Black, Wichita State President’s Diversity Council, Prevention Services and Advisory Board, and the WSU College of Health Professions Dean’s Advisory Council. Danielle has taken courses with Advance Kansas Class VI, Kansas Leadership Center, Young Professionals of Wichita Leadership Academy and Leadership Wichita. Danielle has received the Wichita Business Journals 40 Under 40, Women in Business and Leaders in Diversity. She has also received the Wichita Branch of the NAACP “Chester I. Lewis Distinguished Service Award. Three of the most important awards Danielle received were 2015, 2017 & 2018 WSU Outstanding Greek Advisor Award. These three awards speak to Danielle’s commitment to students at Wichita State University. Danielle and her spouse, Brandon Johnson, are busy with three kids Khairi, Aria, and Arin. When they're not busy with family life, they are mentoring and working to create positive changes and a more inclusive and equitable environment in the Wichita community
